Many people need transport to enable them to access the health and social care services they need.  Health and Social Care Trusts (Trusts) need to ensure that transport is provided to those who are entitled to access it.

The Transport Strategy for Health and Social Care Services in NI (the Strategy) sets out the principles and best practice guidance that should underpin the assessment of need for and provision of transport services to patients and clients.  The Strategy relates to the provision of non-emergency transport for patients and transport provided by Trusts to facilitate access to social care services.  Emergency ambulance services are not included within the remit of the Strategy.
